I work in the hospitality business and there has been a recent migration for Vegas resorts to be run by hotel people as opposed to Casino people. Orlando has been doing this for years and tagging this "fee" as a component of REVpar which is how many hotel managers are compensated. If I were going to guess, if this is a recent change, I'd say that this fee has more to do with the management comp structure and change in talent at the top. If it has been going on for a while, then it's probably the ability to list prices lower on OTAs.

Think you are correct.

For years, I could call cesars group and get connected to the casino host I use to book my room which he always comps almost every night completely.

I tried last night and tonight and they wouldn't connect me. Finally said they don't do that anymore and they were VIP services. Laughable. I can get better rates with my players number online, 200 for Thursday-Tuesday total, 40 a night.

I'm pissed now though. Booking at the Wynn for $250 for a single night and see how they treat me with comps the next four nights. Willing to give them a shot now cause I'm pissed at them changing the rules on me at cesars.
