The Rays transferred Cobb (elbow) to the 60-day disabled list Friday.
Spin: It was announced earlier Friday that Cobb would undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery, so his placement on the 60-day DL was a procedural move to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for Andrew Bellatti. Cobb will face a lengthy recovery period as he works his way back from his elbow injury.
