Getting ESPN3 on my tv is a total pain in the arse...I see a number of Watchespn apps available, but none specifically for Samsung tvs...
is there an app available that would work on a samsung smart tv?...

Chrome cast?
that is a possibility...but since I paid for a smart tv, I would like to try to stick with the functionality that is built in if possible...

Samsung's app lineup does not include a WatchESPN app at this time. You will not be able to access this without a second, attached device.
ETA- Samsung Galaxy smartphones can definitely be mirrored to most newer Samsung smart tvs. You should check to see if another android model is supported, if you have one. I do not think you'll be able to do this from an apple smartphone.

I am actually trying to get the espn stations through my smarttv without having to connect up anoter device...
I can get watchespn by going through the webbrowser that is built into the tv, but it is a total pain in the arse...was hoping that I could simplify that process with an app...

No such luck, and I wouldn't hold my breath.

Was trying to do the same thing last week. I emailed their app support about when it may be available but haven't heard back.

Yet another reason not to get a Smart TV.
IMO, the TV should just be a dumb display that does nothing but display images.
