I'm as big of a Mad Men fan as any, but the last two episodes have been a major disappointment. We are two episodes in and have literally zero story direction or arcs yet. The waitress storyline has been a total disaster. We have so little time and why are we supposed to care about this? There are six episodes left and just spent an entire one on a random waitress and Megan's family. Where the frick is Sally? Did the first half of this season even happen because I feel like we are back in Season 6. All of the growth Don appeared to have is nonexistant.
I hate to get all chicken little, but I am officially worried that Weiner might be in the process of shitting the bed hard. I want to blame it on the split, but that's a terrible excuse. The first half of this season was so good, but I'm not sure what's happening now.

Completely agree. It just seems crazy to devote so much time to this new waitress character, Megan's family and Stan. I love Stan but I don't give a shite about his home life, not at this point in the series. My fear is this Stan storyline is the jumping point for a "will they/won't they" plot line with Peggy. I feel like that would be a tremendous waste of Peggy's character.

I'm not panicking yet, but I agree that the first two have been pretty slow. However, it is Mad Men and the first few episodes of every season (I realize this isn't a new season) have been slower than most. Also, I remember having similar thoughts about Breaking Bad during the last season (plot being too narrow, opening new story lines), with the exception of the first episode after the break. I trust that Weiner will give the show an appropriate ending.
