Ecbert clearly stated that Judith is to be his mistress in exchange for protection from his son, Aethelwulf, which might actually work until his son finds out.
Aethelwulf seems to be a sincere/reverent Christian. He has accepted his father's judgement relative to Judith being impregnated by Athelstan as a gift from God. As such, Judith might have no need to fear for her life and if the hypocrisy gets the best of her, I can see her confessing to Aethelwulf possibly causing him to turn against his father. But more likely she keeps her mouth shut because King Ecbert would definitely have her killed at that point. This post was edited on 4/17/15 at 9:04 pm
