She should apply in Livingston and Ascension. If you are willing to live on the West Bank, West Baton Rouge or Iberville may be options. Baton Rouge High and Lee High in EBR are good places to work, but they aren't going to have any SS/English positions. Not a high demand for SS/English teachers in the BR area unless the teacher has AP experience or the school is high poverty. Demand is higher for Chemistry/Physics, Math, or Spanish certified.
I am a high school administrator.

The gifted teaching positions in EBR aren't bad, but you have to be certified for those.

Zachary isn't that far and they have good schools. Buy yourself a nice piece of land on HWY 61 and she will be able to find a job in the Zachary area.

Talk to lsu919.

Woodlawn (is it even still a school) might be worth looking knto in EBR. But I'm not for sure about that.

Don't forget to check out the Destrehan area - I've heard the students absolutely love their teachers there.

We live in Cherokee Village in Alex. Wife works for a rural high school that covers Lecompte and Forest Hill so she is use to the country type school.

Denham Springs sounds like a good place to start looking then. Excellent high school (actually most schools in LP are great) with very little disciplinary problems. Live Oak schools north of DS in Watson are good as well. LP is a bit tougher to get hired on bc it's highly desirable & not a lot of turnover, but definitely worth a try. ... Ascension Parish has a bit more "thuggish" type kids than LP; LP is a bit more rural &"red.' Denham is getting crowded, but has no serious problems most of the time.

What is this Christa MaCullfies Superintendents Academy? I see they have job openings in English/Social Studies.

Denham Springs has changed over the last 15 years. The schools there have had more discipline problems and slipping scores. Live Oak and Walker are both passing Denham up. The Denham Springs Freshman High has had trouble keeping teachers. LP also has a lot of small rural 7-12 school that might be a good fit.

The new EBR superintendant is going to improve conditions for teachers, but it might take a while to change the culture.

The Superintendants Academies are schools for students who are more than 2 years behind or were expelled.

The new superintendant is going to close these schools and replace them with a military style bootcamp program
