I appreciate all the advice and knowledge!

To answer everyone's question

We bought a house in denham so it would be Baton Rouge and surrounding areas.

The reason we are going for ADN is our finances. We have a 2yr old daughter. She has 1-2 yrs of college already so the basics should be knocked out. She wants to get her foot in the door quickly to help out financially and gain experience. Then she will start online courses for the BSN.

Went to OLOL and they only offer 4yr BSN FOR $4500 a semester.

Was told that BRCC is the only school to get the ADN.
Went to the nursing school off Julia St. And there program takes 2 yrs at $4500 a semester. Looked at the program and most of her basics are knocked out with the exception of 2 courses it looks like. Still need to get transcript and see what gets rolled over.

Also I've never had to get a loan scholarship or grant. Don't wen know where to start. Due to financial reasons we would def need help. My job can pay our bills but not school as well so anybody who can offer advice on that would be great!!

Thanks OT!!

Yeah you are gonna have to have them tell you exactly what they will accept or not. I remember when I went to BRG School of Nursing a couple of my classmates still needed their nutrition class so they took a nightclass the first semester for that class. Depending on the school they may allow her to do that(depending on the classes she is missing).

Baton Rouge General School of Nursing is another option. Look into them. When I went there they had amazing instructors and the school has a very high NCLEX passrate. You get a ton of clinical experience in their program as well. When I went they were a diploma program only. However....diploma vs ADN...really not a big difference. Both are not BSNs and are looked at in the same light.

each semester at BRCC has been about $1000-1500 after all fees, depending on how many classes were taken. . .
(I pretty much followed the curriculum plan that is on the BRCC website)

My wife and I were in a similar situation a year back trying to get through school with our 2 year old son.

She had a previous bachelor's and got into an accelerated 12 mo. program here in Missouri and got her BSN.

Not sure if they have comparable programs in Louisiana, but you should investigate.

Also look into one of several HRSA scholarships. In exchange for working with underserved populations, she could have up to 85% of her loans forgiven.
