Cracked G3 Screen- Need to get files off it

So basically long story short, my LG G3 is cracked which made the screen unresponsive. I can get a new one sent in but first I need to get all my stuff (pictures, music, etc) off of it. I tried hooking it up to my laptop but it's only in charging mode and not file sharing mode. I can't change it because i can't get into the phone. Any help? Are there any other options to remove the stuff?

I know this doesn't help but I'm on my 3rd G3 from cracked screens. Love the damn phone but ANY crack makes the phone totally unresponsive except for answering incoming calls using the back button. Really sucks. Like I said I know it doesn't help now but when you get your replacement make sure you have some sort of auto backup set up.
As far as being able to recover your files look into third party options

What are you doing to crack the screen? I've dropped it on all kinds of surfaces including concrete and gravel and it doesn't have a scratch. I have an Incipio case on it, but nothing bulky at all.

Actually both times was walking my dog and he jerked the leash and lost it. Fell from about chest level flat face down onto concrete and shattered into million pieces. First time hit flat concrete and I had the quick circle case. Second time I had the otter box commuter and it hit the ground but 3 small pointy pieces of gravel left 3 very specific bullseye spots that spread. Almost looked like 3 bullet holes. Now I have an otter box defender but still am afraid to drop onto its face.
Dropping on its edges causes no problems. Face down is what has fricked me
