People are insane if they don't think sending him was the right call. Especially for the home team with last at bat. It took not only a perfect throw, but a perfect catch and tag just to get him. Had the runner not held up or took such a bad turn rounding third, it's not even close. LSU's outfield is not known for assists so they decision makes even more sense.

Lol.

The only thing close to "perfect" about that sequence was the tag. The CF almost two-hopped the ball on a throw he had a running headstart on and was almost into the infield. He also didn't even hit the catcher deadcenter.

All of that and the runner was still out.

That was FAR from absolutely the right call. I don't mind being aggressive at home, but that wasn't getting thrown out by Ichiro at 3rd, trying to stretch something. That was a throw 90% of high school outfielders could make with ease.

90% might be high, but I bet its at least 50% of high schoolers that make this throw

Watching the game live when Stevenson got the ball I thought to myself their is no way bama sent the guy home, and if they did Stevie is about to hose this guy. He was 20ft from the infield dirt with all of his momentum going to home.

This is rule of thump I always go by for sending a runner home on a hit to OF. If the outfielder gets the ball before the runner touches 3rd you put up a stop sign, and this is based on an OF at normal depth not 20ft from infield dirt. You can't see where the runner is for sure but I bet he was very close to bag when Stevie got the ball. I wouldn't of sent the runner.

The throw occurred this way because that's what kind of arm Stevenson has. Do you really think only our coaches, players, and fans know that Stevenson has a poor arm? You send the runner there precisely because Stevenson is likely to make a throw like this.
