Did Army basic at Ft Lewis Washington a long time ago. We were standing in formation one morning in the street in front of the weapons room - standard procedure and a bike rider (Permanent station guy - not a basic training soldier) came screaming down the road. The guy was leaning down pedaling like crazy not watching where he was going and he ran into the end of our formation. Took five or six guys out and broke a guy's leg - bent at a crazy right angle and he was screaming. The other guys had cuts or were banged up.
They brought in the MPs and hauled the guy away. Pissed off our Drill Sargent who was screaming at the bike rider for "messing up my formation."
The rest of us (non injured personnel) went for a two mile run and then chow hall for breakfast. Never saw the broken leg guy again. His stuff was out of the barracks when we got back that night.
