Lester, do you agree that the double play was a possibility? Do you understand that a bunt takes away the double play? Bunt them over with Deichman and UK has to either pitch to Laird with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out, or walk Laird and pitch to Bregman with the bases loaded and 1 out. Don't those chances at winning the game sound better than counting on the freshman with 3 career at bats to win the game?

This not necessarily directed at you Choup, but the pro-bunt people assume that the bunt will be laid down successfully and advance the runners, which is not a given.

very slim. Greg Deichman is faster than Mark Laird, just for some context.

It wasn't even about him winning a game. The chances of a productive out are high because he's lefthanded and because of his speed. Seriously, if you watch a lick of baseball, this happens a good bit.

Again, if you're not able to separate the result with the decision itself, then there is no sense in even trying to reason with you.

He saw it as a chance for Deichmann to make a productive out or possibly win the game. I wouldn't doubt he used it as a test for Greg, to possibly springboard him into more playing time. It was a great opportunity to show some trust in the guy.

Saying PM did it to stroke his ego is laughable to me. And im not even denying he has shown some egotistical tendencies. But it's usually in his press conferences, and not in games. Just dumb.
