Never had a problem with batteries dying. Driving to/from work is enough time for it to charge and not die for a week or so.
I went with the tablet for multiple reasons.
1) It was inexpensive and can get 4G LTE.
2) More customizable in my opinion
3) I have an app that interfaces with a micro controller. I have it wired up to a relay board as well as the CAN-BUS of the truck. With this I can use an app to send commands to the truck including remote start, AC controls, windows up/down...hell pretty much anything electronic can be controlled by sending the right command to the CAN-BUS.
Also with this I can sedn a text from anywhere i have service to the tablet to relay commands.
Basically I can control my truck with my Iphone now

Also I'm not a fan of the double din dash kits for the new F150s. They look crappy and the screen is too small. The tablet has a much larger screen.

The battery is still new, but eventually it will fail and either not last the night or fail to charge altogether.
1. By the time you include the cost of the cell service for the tablet and the radio you have it tied into, it's going to cost more than an App Radio.
2. Since the App Radio can mirror your phone, it will continually be upgraded when you upgrade your phone whereas the tablet will have to be replaced to get an upgrade once support is ended.
3. That's pretty cool.
