The fact of the matter is that a number of members of COS don't know about the Xenu story because they haven't reached a certain rank. The COS leaders have tried everything to distanced themselves from this part of the religion.
The blackmailing, fair game and disappearances are pretty well known imo.

quote:Not at all actually. Well known to people who are interested to look. I'd bet anything more people know about xenu than they do about any of that other shite, or even the litigious nature of the organization.

the typical response is "well, I don't see how it's any crazier than other religions" most people do not understand why others find scientology so objectionable.

Just getting into this but wanted to pose this question: Why doesn't a person or group of people fake join this church, make up a bunch of lies about themselves to offer up in these audit sessions, then eventually join the Sea Org and record the innerworkings of these people including the abuse? Is it that hard to get some hidden cameras in their buildings?
I've only known one Scientologist, and he was very smart. He just got weirder and weirder through college and eventually went to work for them and now runs some kind of facility that they own related to L. Ron Hubbard. His mind must be completely bonkers by now.
