Here's the bottom line to this whole issue. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you have the opportunity to make a kid with downs syndrome feel happy or generally better about themselves, unless it's something that's illegal, dangerous, or would harm them or anyone else, you do it. Period. Even if doing it means you make some special concessions to the "normal" SOP to do it.
