I don't think the cockpit should ever be locked shut to be honest..

There will always be the possibility of a hijacking, if the cockpit is locked after being hijacked, the end result will more than likely always be a crash.

With access to the cockpit, 100+ passengers would be much more likely to be able to subdue the hijacker or even a small group of hijackers.

Add a third pilot, with identification, randomly placed onboard in plain clothes ready to take over after any incident.

Make it known he's on board somewhere as a deterrent. Hijackers can't take control without knowing who the 3rd pilot is.

What do you mean "if the cockpit is locked after being hijacked?"
