How far and/or difficult is the run from shore? I see people taking mother ships out there and pulling bay boats/skiffs. Is this the way to go?
Come on man, from where? and in what?
I have seen many a bay boat there, I have also seen bay boats there unable to go home because of weather changes. I would plan my trip by the weather forecast and pick the most sheltered route available in a bay boat but it is certainly doable.
It is possible to stay in protected water MOST of the way depending on where one launches from.

Not really sure where. I'd like to the do the overnight charter if and when I can plan it.
ETA: as far as the beaches go, I was told that it was shut down for a bit after oil spill but is back open to the public
