Simple syrup- boil water and add sugar 'til it won't disolve anymore, let cool. You can add some food color if you're using a feeder that's clear.

I use a 20oz Gatorade bottle. Fill 1/4 of bottle with sugar add water and shake. Pour in humming bird feeder. No need to boil or add food color. I have 4 feeders and have to fill them every day in the late fall.

My grandpa use to just put just sugar in the water, and you would not believe how many he would have around both his feeders.

hummingbirds migrate here for the summer and don't usually arrive until the weather gets a little warmer and flowers start blooming...

I have always just bought some of the mix at the wal marks to fill my feders with...cheap an easy...

Wife just made me hang the new feeder today. Wanted one in front of the kitchen sink window for her to look at while she cleans my messes up

Hummers are already here. Males arrive first. Put the feeder out. Ratio of one part sugar to four parts water. Stronger solution is not better as nectar is probably around 20 to 1. DO NOT USE HONEY. You'll probably have to change out the solution once a week depending on how much sun your feeder gets. Mix up a batch of solution and put some in the feeder. Put the remainder in the fridge for use later.
