While the thought of naming something the "absolute best ever #1" can sound silly, the arguments it creates are usually great reads.

Most versatile or technically proficient guitarist or most influential whatever for whatever reason are interesting conversations. There's actually something to discuss there. "He be the greatest rapper/beat maker because he sold x amount of albums and won a Grammy and is just straight bad arse" is a vacuous discussion. You can have a discussion about music without one thing having to be better than the other. It's more interesting if you allow things to be more complex.
