Last year we went for broke with the Byrd signing and it didn't work. Gotta pay the credit card bill sometime. I thought Loomis was trying to set it up so that the team imploded when Brees falls off a cliff. As soon as Brees can no longer plau, cut/trade everyone and play with scrubs helmed by Ryan Griffin for a season, then draft Brees replacment and try to build a team around him with lots of cap space/maneuverability.

That can still be in place for 2016 where we could trade Brees and only take a $7.5M cap hit. Staggering the cuts/trades/roster overhaul over two years allows us to acquire young talent.
