I don't share anything in common with the black people on the other side of the state of Missouri other than having a vaguely similar skin tone. No more than all white people or Asian people have a community. It's a misnomer that I dearly wish would fade away.
All I can do is keep being an upstanding citizen and if/when I'm blessed with kids, raise them up to do the same and be proud of their rich mixed heritage while so doing. Can't control what other black knuckleheads are doing anymore than I can hoodlums of any other nationality, you know?
As for the OP--the so-called racial divide has definitely continued to lessen, despite the popular alarmist narrative we see on social media and message boards.
