So you believe, despite historical accounts, that ALL masters beat their slaves or killed their slaves? Sure, there were more than a few frickheads, but that sure is painting with a broad brush.

They weren't free, but it is FACT that some ate and had better well being in slavery than freedom. Now, you could argue that's because they were institutionalized or whatever, but it's still fact. Like I said...it doesn't excuse the horrible act of slavery. What I don't get is why people think it is exclusive to white people. You do realize they were slaves in Africa at the point of sale, right? Hell, one could argue their descendants now have a better life because of it. Again, just so you don't go off the deep end, I"m not approving of slavery, just pointing out the facts.

So you are saying the majority of slave owners would have no problems with a slave leaving?
