Read 'Eat Stop Eat'..
I did that program for 3 months. Enjoyed the book more than I did the "lifestyle." I agree 100% with the basic concepts especially the part about corporate America and their greedy pockets.
But I can have the exact same success eating 5-6 small meals a day which is what I enjoy. I love eating and even more I love eating good food. Fasting for 24 straight hours once or twice a week wasn't even that hard, it was just frankly boring me to death. I use my meals to help break up the monotony of work or other mundane tasks in life.

This right here for me.
I used to go 1-2 full days where all I did was split a little grilled cheese sandwich with Red, but I just love to eat so much now that I'd rather eat small portions of things I love throughout the day. Once my appetite adjusted and I realized I'd feel full if I just exercised self control and stopped myself, it became easy as can be.
Cooking and/or going out to good meals is what constitutes a really fun Friday night to me. I can't lose that.
