Speech restrictions at a public university?
This will not end well

Wrong. this is a slam dunk for OU.
OU Code of Conduct

From the
Prohibited Conduct
These definitions include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Abusive conduct: Unwelcome conduct that is sufficiently severe and pervasive that it alters the conditions of education or employment and creates an environment that a reasonable person would find intimidating, harassing or humiliating.

Free speech also has consequences. I'm free to say what I want, but there are repercussions. These poor white victims utilized their right to free speech. They also violated the student code of conduct and are being expelled.

the question isn't as much one of "free speech" as much as it is "due process". it's kind of shocking that they did an entire investigation of this entire incident in a day. and i'm not sure what kind of DP students at OU are guaranteed, but i'm sure an opportunity to respond is part of it at the minimum.

i know some students who got into shite for legit actions (actions that tested the credibility of their academic integrity). they were not just suspended. they got hearings and all sorts of other process. i don't see how OU has done their due diligence this quickly

I don't think you get the jist of "free speech". "Free speech with repercussions" is like saying you're free to commit murder but hey, you're going to death row if you do.

"Free speech" shouldn't have these types of institutional or governmental repercussions involved.
