Steven Spielberg also produced the Tobe Hooper directed movie "Poltergeist" even though movie insiders claim Spielberg took control of direction due to being an absolute control freak. No wonder the movie looks and sounds like a Spielberg movie - it is a Spielberg movie.
Perhaps the Kurtz movies have a Kurtz style because he became a "Spielberg" onset and inserted himself too much into the direction process.

Well not "too much"
Jedi wasn't very good and it's probably because Kurtz wasn't there
And the two post Star Wars films I mentioned are fricking good and that's in large part to the visual style
