In other under cover cop videos I've seen most of the time their badge is around their necks on a chain hidden but available to show. I'm not seeing any badge at all in this video, obviously he's "under cover" but I just get a feeling he never id'ed himself as a cop.
The whole "undercover cop meeting with resistance" has now happened three times by my recollection in about a couple of years in and around NOLA.
You've got this one, you had the two black kids/youths standing around in the Quarter last year around Mardi Gras who were rushed by a group of guys and they tried to fight back and flee. After being set upon, it turns out the guys were cops..State Troopers if memory serves. Problem was one of the kid's mom was a NOLA officer and was in the area, shows up, and all the cops suddenly walk away.
Then you had the Ricky Jefferson deal around Clearview during Mardi Gras...which to me reads like this latest one. Undercover cops engage group of teenagers in an aggressive way, teens don't know they are cops and respond as you'd expect, cops engage and then afterwards start claiming the kids knew they were police.
How about...stop fricking engaging the public without identifying yourselves? Or, if you're going to go that route, then you can't very well expect a normal person to stand there while you beat them assuming you're not just some a-hole but an a-hole who may be an officer.
