Julia's (Mexican), near the Mall.

Others have said Spirit's

Tunk's Cypress Inn (great seafood, great location on Kincaid Lake)

Bistro on the Bayou, for OT ballers

All of these are great, locally owned restaurants.

Chains are hit and miss - there is a Chili's, Outback, Logan's Roadhouse, Texas Roadhouse, BW3, Johnny Carino's, Copeland's, but no Olive Garden (for example).

Area is oriented to outdoorsmen, hunting and fishing, primarily. There are arts and music, but you have to really dig around to find them.

Honestly, not all that different from BR, culturally, just fewer options.
