Suffering from depression and schizophrenia

I'd like to offer a very rare, serious response here. I've suffered from depression for nearly 50 years and I relate to the daily suicidal thoughts among other things.

However, about two years ago, at the end of my rope, I went to a doctor, resolved to either overcome my problem or end my life.

After talking with the doctor, I decided to try an anti-depressant, one that I'd not tried before.

Now, two years later, the suicidal thoughts are gone and life is better than I could ever have imagined. Just the absence of these thoughts has been an enormously liberating turn of events in my life.

Moral of the story: seek help one way or another. The answer may be meds. It may be counseling. But it surely ISN'T sitting alone with a loaded gun in your hand.

Get up and look for help. Help is out there; but it needs you to make that first small step.
