We had a cop come onto our bench in a really heated game and get in the head coaches face because yhe didn't like the way he yelled at a player to hurry up and get in game...he didnt do anything remotely wrong and the coach was shocked. When i tried to calm the cop down he went to grab my wrist to cuff me and the coach yanked me away from him and yelled at cop basically what tie frick are you doing? This caused a major scrum on our bench with parents seeing all this and coming to yell at cop for going way across his boundary. Well the refs suspens game and say we have to forfeit since it happened on our bench..totally ignoring it was other schools cop that started everythinf by running t oir bench with 2 min to go and a 3point game.

Only reason it got over turned was it got caught all on tape. We had to go back and play final 2 min in empty gym at some weird hour

Cops should not be getting anywhere near involved in a game unless the referee's eject someone, or ask the cops to go deal with something. Absolutely no reason. That cop should never be allowed in that gym again...

I was responding to kracka because he was talking about management controlling their people As home team.
It also connects to the story in refs tried to punish one team and not other.

But i never said thats what happen there. i was sharing a personal experience off what he said.

I know its hard to grasp since it doesnt fit some weird aggenda youre own tho

I was involved in a few games in High School that never escalated to fighting, but several people ejected from the crowd. I remember one time a coach from a school in Lafayette threw the ball at one of our players. I find things like this happen more in small gyms when people are on top of the court basically and a matter of feet away from coaches and players. I've gotten spit on, had drinks poured on me, and stuff thrown at me in certain places. But in all of my time, I never saw a cop attempt to get involved in a game like you described. That just blows my mind really. Completely ridiculous.

You know how a coach will keep looking at court and coaching while grabbing a players arm or something and say to go check in real quick? Thats what the headcoach did (to his daughter) and thats when cop ran over abd said if you touch a kid again im bringing you to jail with me tonite.

shocked didnt ecen describe it

My dad was the pricipal at the high school he went to, and during district and playoff games, he never hired local police for security. Always hired someone from out of town for that reason alone. Didn't want cops emotionally involved in crowd or game control.

My son plays for Albany. It got out of hand do to bad officiating and horrible evangel fans. 5 Albany kids got kicked out of the game for trying to grab players and fans and keep people from fighting and no evangel players were even warned. The kid sustained a nasty cut that needed stitches the parent that went on the floor was his father and he went one step on the floor. So he didn't rush the ref. it was a disgusting display by a school and there body.

Typical LP trash.

I think I'll side with Albany before I side with a Shreveport paper talking about Evangel

Fault goes with both sides. Bad officiating is no reason to fight. No reason. Bad management on Evangel for not controlling their students/crowd. Bad decisions on fans/players of Albany for fighting.

There's the problem it really wasn't a fight. It was several evangel kids running around starting crap.

Yes it does but the article was written like Evangel was innocent. Call the game right and this doesn't happen. From what I read Albany got fukked with foul calls then got fukked by it being a one sided suspension. Ole boy at Shreveport times ain't gonna tell you that though.

I agree with all of this.

Where is the Evangel administration? I've seen many of high school games where principals and assistant principals have gone to monitor the student section as things start escalating.

I saw the video, and if that was the parent "storming the court", then the writer for the Shreveport paper added more bias to an article that was already extremely biased, "the Albany coach who spent most of the game on the floor or in front of the Evangel bench..." What kind of a clown article is that?

However, the Albany adminstration should have been present and should have been there to control their parents/fans. The cops apparently arrested the dad and I have no problem with that. But the Evangel administration is probably more at fault for the "fight" that broke out between students and players from another team right near the basketball court.

The dad wasn't arrested he was escorted out of the game. The Albany fans and parents didn't do anything until several evangel punks went after the kid that got stitches under his eye. Then parents and players rushed out to contain the situation. Other than a Albany parent being assaulted by a evangel student and a punch hitting another Albany player there was not any altercation from our players or fans. The Albany coach decided that if evangel did not have any players ejected they would not continue the game. The refs called a forfeit at that point.

Unfortunately, what is the appeal going to accomplish? The game is not going to be resumed and they're not going to just grant Albany the win, especially since Evangel was up 12 points at the time of the fight.

ETA: Is it true that an Albany coach received head trauma and was rushed to the hospital?
