Deathly afraid to turn the ball over.. to the point of handcuffing the quarterbacks severely.
He prefers to keep the game tight and win at the end now. He has even uttered this on the field. Or as he refers to it as "when it at the back end" Which is a nice idea, but I would prefer a more confidence from start to finish. Les will often save his best players for the back half.. which is a nice idea, but I prefer the mindset of getting a lead early and often.. and the players to have a confidence and trust that if they throw an INT or two.. that they are more than skilled enough to make it up in a hurry. I remember a game Winston threw like 3 or 4 ints and FSU still overcoming it at the end.. or even Nick Marshall having poor games early on but allowed to continue doing his thing and making up for it.
I like players being held accountable for their mistakes, but the QB position is somewhat different from a mental perspective. Our quarterbacks seem to be so afraid to make any mistake out there that it literally hinders their potential. As if they have to be absolutely perfect in the limited opportunities they have or throws they get. There needs to be better trust and confidence at this position. Period.
