Sams's Club, who hosted the event in their parking lot, thought that all of the rebel flags flying were offensive. The rebel flag fliers protested when they were asked to take them down, so SAMS's Club, not the city, made all of the flags come down. There weren't even any city officials at the event! It was on private property.
