What kind of catch dogs do y'all use?
In the past, we'd have a well trained American bulldog. But recently, all of my friend's trail dogs are so good, that's all we need. They trail, bay, & catch. Cur dogs are amazing.
Oh, and I usually don't cut a pig right there on the spot. We tie them up and take them out alive (illegal, I know). Only time I use a knife to cut a hog is to castrate it.

American Bulldogs.
Amazing beasts. Beautiful to see them work. Most of the curs could probably catch but it's risky getting them cut or killed.

We'll castrate em too. As far as using curs to catch, we try to keep bay dogs that won't try and catch because they'll be more likely to get cut or killed and on a big 300 pound hog I don't trust them to hold the big down like a pit.
