I think we're going to have to give that one more time for humanity to see how it plays out. If space exploration ever becomes more feasible and a serious endeavor then it will have been huge as a symbol of humanity's first step outward.

Good point. It's crazy to think that everything that has happened in the last 100 years......landing on the moon, the holocaust, Hitler, the internet, television, the nuclear bomb, etc is a mere blink in the history of the world.
