See where we have offered several guys lately, and it appears that most have already been offered by bama. Is their net that wide, or are they just beating us to punch in recruiting game.
Would seem to think that offering a player fairly early in process would be a pretty good selling point.

Bama throws the entire bowl of pasta against the wall and sees what sticks.

Bama throws offers out at kids and they mean nothing. When LSU offers kids it's because we truly see a fit for that kid in our system and that offer is a privilege. BAMA offers every kid in the top 100 that is in the south without ever laying eyes on them in person or at their film

It's strategic and it's smart. LSU likes to evaluate and make sure they fit. Saban puts pressure on LSU by offering top tier talent in LA early. It puts LSU on notice and pressures LSU to quicken their evaluations. It also causes us, as fans, to stress on keeping state kids because LSU is the only state school and LSU fans aren't use to seeing its own leave the state. It's unlike any other talent rich state in the sec. When kids see bama offer early and LSU slow play, it causes doubt. It allows players an excuse to choose bama if they want. It causes LSU to work harder to secure its own. LSU fans go crazy at the mere perception we are being out worked in our own state. When it becomes a reality, it levels up a bit. Fantastic strategy.
I think LSU has screwed the pooch in n la but it can be remedied. This staff doesn't lack recruiting prowess so the deficiencies can be overcome. I don't think many other staffs could ward off the attack as well as Les has and he doesn't get near enough recognition for it...recruiting wise.

Didn't read the entire thread, but one huge factor to consider is that they have their first Jr Day before National Signing Day, while most schools are concentrating on finishing their classes.
Also, that Jr Day isn't like our Boys From the Boot, so they get prospects to come in from across the country and offer them weeks, or months, before LSU has their own Jr Day for those recruits.

They are Alabama. Their net is just that wide. They are a Top 4 school. Along with Texas, Ohio St and USCw. When these schools get great coaches they dominate recruiting. If it werent for Miles they would be constantly plucking our best. Not just Collins and Crob. Miles has held his own even with Saban coaching in Baton Rouge.
