Stopping the opponent's momentum while settling down the offense to get the ball inside for a good shot instead of shooting a wild 3 is not a benefit?

Not necessarily if we don't get it inside for the score. Read the entire post. The question is will that timeout benefit us more late when the game is on the line. We're not a great defensive team and there are only five timeouts in a game. You have to play to your strengths, but this is a debate that can go on forever.
