Excuse my ignorance, but what's the benefit of the 8 strand braid over the 4 strand?

Smoother, rounder braid. Limper, easier to tie knots, more manageable with better castability. Also, if it does get nicked, you're less likely to break off because it has more strands to distribute the strength with. If you cut 1 of the strands of regular power pro, you line strenth is decreased by 25%, with 8 strand it would only be decreased by 12.5%. But the main advantage is the limpness and castability.

Go with 30# Fins XS braid. The XS is 8 strand vs the windtamer which is 4 strand.

Oh, and the H20 ethos rods are legit. I have Castaway skeletons, custom rods, Abu veritas, etc. and I really do love the Ethos rod more than most of the others I have and they are a fraction of the price.
