There you go, I only mentioned offering, did I say anything else?
Count me in the group that doesn't want to give out 600 scholarship offers every year. Teams like LSU and Alabama don't do that.
Teams like Tennessee and Ole Miss do.

There are 600 five star players every year? This thread is an excellent example of how the original message gets lost by responding to different messengers.
It is about exposure regardless of whether you get them or not. USC offers to a lot of high profile players in Louisiana because they feel confident about their name and their program, LSU should do the same.

You made my day, I am done; read my message you replied to again.

I'm glad you found the "S" key, now we just need to teach you the appropriate time to press it.

Your premise is fundamentally flawed. Again, this approach is for Tier 2 programs who aren't already a national brand.
I'd like to know, in what way does it reflect positively on LSU to offer a recruit we have absolutely no chance of signing, solely for his recruitment rating.... to in turn be turned down when this recruit chooses a school he actually wants.

I agree with the majority on this topic. Random offers are beyond silly based on the recruiting services regardless of star power. Now to change up a bit.
LSU hasn't had much luck in CA, this is true. I remember when LSU had only a rare recruit from the Carolina's and Georgia. Lately, the tigers are getting some people. California is potentially there as well.
My concern is that the recruiting budget at LSU is firmly in the bottom half of the SEC now and has been. UT, and the two AL schools are between 2-3 times the budget LSU has.
Clearly LSU is blessed with a talented pool of in state players which I guess is the justification. However in the current world we all live with, media coverage and social media increases and state pride has decreased everywhere in our nation. In state, you typically have family and familiarity, out of state, you have new adventures. Kids are famous now not just locally but nationally.
Throughout all this, LSU had done fairly well. All I'm saying is a level money field would be nice and I'm not even trying to get into the "booster bagmen" area.

Those assistant coach salaries, though.

No, LSU doesn't do that. Bama sends out tons of offers. Just about every 5 star kid and highly rated four star kid has a Bama offer.

Thank you. You know it doesn't matter what you say, there are a bunch of people here who like to go against what you post; they think it is sign of intelligence.

Are you suggesting they send these out blindly? Bama's recruiting budget dwarfs LSU's. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if they had the manpower to actually do the proper evaluations.
I do respect your opinion as a poster, and am asking an honest question.

They do have the man power and that's why they offer so many. They have a support staff purely dedicated to watching film and evaluating players. They recommend offerable kids and the position coaches then go from there. We have Austin Thomas and maybe an assistant or 2 that do it. They have about 10-12 guys. Big difference. I'd love to have that many but also like the way we do things for the most part.

So what you're saying is that Alabama DOESN'T send out offers on recruits because other programs and recruiting services hold them in high regard, but rather performs their own independent evaluations?
Interesting.
Interesting.
