Here is the DEAL !!!
I think that "great education" part is mostly wishing and dreaming, as well...
I think you're wrong. Explain to me how PhD professors using the same textbooks in a classroom on Highland Road is any different than PhD professors using the same textbooks in a classroom at any other college ????
Just because a school is "private" and thus costs more to go to does not make it better.
Just because a school requires 'higher test scores for admission' does not make it better.
'Higher academic standards usually just means 'admissions standards.
What happens after that is largely up to the individual student.
Many studies show LSU is above average in mid-career salaries of its graduates.
Despite budget cuts, LSU is still a Tier I university according to USN&WR, not that their opinion is the end-all be-all. LSu also has nationally ranked curricula in Petroleum Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Internal Auditing, Coastal Marine Studies, Hurricane Engineering and Geophysics, Mass Communications, Music and Dramatic Arts, Agribusiness, and many others..

Higher admissions standards tends to lend itself to a more intelligent student body. A more intelligent student body, in turn, tends to lend itself to a more successful student body. A more successful student body tends to result in higher alumni donations.
And the cycle continues.
