While the Saints will get under the cap (obviously, they have to). I am highly entertained by the people that act like this isn't an issue.

Yes, Loomis has used loopholes to circumvent these issues in years past but he's done so by pushing off the inevitable to future years. Well, now the future is starting to knock at the door. To continue to brush this off like no big deal reminds me of the government.

2 Billion in debt? frick it, let's go 6 Billion. It's only a number, right? 4 years pass and then it grows to 10 Billion. Then the 6 billion seemed like a drop in the bucket.

loopholes? you make it sound so illegal.
In reality, 2017 is the year that it might actually do something to bite us.

Lets just say we restructure lofton, graham, galette, and byrd. Saints would be at 139.7mil for 2015, 150.9mil for 2016. Free agents in 2016 that mean something: Cameron Jordan, Akiem Hicks, Nick Toon, Khiry Robinson, Josh Hill, Glenn Foster, Tim Lelito, and Austin Johnson.

That is still with players that are aging that are hitting the cap hard.
Marques Colston (10.5mil cap: 2.7mil dead, 7.8mil savings)
Ben Grubbs (10.3mil cap: 3.0mil dead, 7.3mil savings)
Jahri Evans (10.2mil cap: 1.5mil dead, 8.7mil savings)
Brodrick Bunkley (6.112mil cap: 1.612mil dead, 4.5mil savings)
David Hawthorne (5.51mil cap: 1.51mil dead, 4.0mil savings)

Give it til 2017 and we'll be in bigger trouble.

We are fricked once Brees is gone. Mine as well make shite work while he's here, which Loomis can manage to do manipulating the cap. It's up to the rest of the staff to make sure the talent here fits.

There was already a thread saying how the cap this year can be managed, and it's in better shape than it was last season.

The cap doesn't worry me near as much as this team filling the necessary voids by way of draft picks, and players here developing leadership. It's not like this team is void of talent. Brees needs to be protected, and the team needs to stay healthy.

DD Your analogy to Govt over spending is terrible man

Nothing about the two is remotely similar.

But if we are the over spending US Government then that would make the falcons organization...

Some people really don't get how the cap works. A lot of the "catching up" is old guys on big contracts that will get cut or reduced (like we did last year). Just look at the numbers of the older guys that was posted.

We've been doing this for years and it has not and will not "catch up" to us because Loomis knows how to structure contracts.

Now whether some people deserve the contracts is another matter.
