I hear you. I used to have an hour+ commute one way. Now it's down to 30 minutes and The affect it has had on my state of mind can't be exaggerated.

Having said that, 40% is hard to not look into. I'd have to think about it at least, but at most, Id work the job just long enough to pay off student loans and sock a little away for the kids educations (max 4 years) then I'd look for an exit. Couldn't do it longer than that.
