So with the Wings loss in regulation, here's where the East stands...
Isles 93 (7)
Pens 91 (8)
Wings 90 (9)
Caps 90 (8)
Sens 85 (9)

Bruins 85 (8)
If the Bruins suddenly turn things around and go 6-2 down the stretch, which seems well outside what they are capable of right now, they will earn 12 points and finish at 97. Even then, to miss the playoffs, you would need the Sens to also earn 12 points in 9 games.
So, let's just assume that if you reach 97 points, you are virtually assured of a playoff spot (that would be a record for highest point total required). That means that all you need to do is play at less than a point/game pace. And even then you only miss if both the Bruins and Sens play insanely great.

That makes me feel a little better, but I am still nervous of a Capitals epic collapse with this being their remaining schedule...
However, then again they sure will be playoff ready if they can get hot against these teams.
