Except When LSU has to travel to Wisky to return the trip, LSU gets 500,000 instead of 4,000,000 leaving a gaping hole in the Athletic budget that year. SO yes there really is an argument.
That isn't true according to the recent Advocate article
quote:
The Tigers are set to receive $2.1 million for their second neutral site game against Wisconsin in 2016 at Lambeau Field.
There are pros besides direct money, also LSU make more on that deal than they would a home/away IMO:
quote:
Why? It helps grow LSU’s brand to a national audience, makes the school a ton of money and boosts the recruitment of students and student-athletes, Ausberry said.
“The world has changed,” Ausberry said. “Everybody says LSU’s brand is already big. I say, ‘Yeah, but you can’t ever stop growing.’ You either get better or worse every day. You’ve got to keep working on that brand.”
The money is a big part as well.
LSU will make a combined $5.4 million from the two-game deal with Wisconsin.
And we make it up for it with our next 2 neutral site games:
quote:
LSU will make nearly $9 million from its two most recently scheduled neutral site games, according to game contracts obtained by The Advocate.
ESPN will pay LSU $4 million for a game against BYU in Houston in 2017, and the Tigers will get a whopping $4.75 million from the network for the game against Miami in Arlington, Texas, in 2018.
