Don't take this as me saying that modern day electronic artists are as talented as Mozart and Beethoven. That's irrelevent and would be missing my point entirely. It's just that you seem to think that a person has to actually play their own music with an instrument to be as talented. At least that seems to be your argument. That's an entirely modern expectation. Things haven't been like that very long.
I just said electronic music can be good. There are tons of examples of this from Radiohead to Kraftwerk to Q-Tips Renaissance album. IMO most rap does not use the medium creatively, but just as a backdrop for false bravado and perpetuation of lame stereotypes.
Most modern rap has a lot in common with 80s hairbands and modern BroCountry.
Again, I'm not saying all of it sucks, just most.

That's fine. Really I wouldn't know what the landscape looks like because I don't really listen to much of that stuff. It's just how you presented your point, it seemed that you were saying something about the potential of the medium. It has just as much potential as a display of talent as anything else if not more because of the freedom that it gives the "composer" or creator.
The guy who compared simple guitar playing of power chords to simple beats/electronic music and complex guitar to complex beats/electronic music described this idea perfectly.
