Only worthwhile if you're using robinhood and even then I'd stay away from day trading. $1000 isn't enough to get diversified in individual stocks on any commission brokerage

Is that serious about robinhood? Honest question. If he's looking to buy and hold, $7 commissions at scottrade aren't that much.
