The world is a far, far better place due to Syd leaving floyd when he did. Even if he hadn't gone off the deep end mentally, their music just was kinda blah. No real direction, no form, just 30 minutes of jamming out on acid. When Gilmour stepped in and him and waters took creative control it gave us what we all know and love as floyd, which obviously wouldn't have happened with syd.
