That's the exact routine I've been using for the past 3 years. I did the Scott's lawn schedule thing on their website and that's the exact regiment it gave me. My lawn is thick, weed free and green. The spreading and watering takes about 30 minutes. If you don't have that kind of time in your life it's time to reevaluate.
