Go work out west in CO, WY, MT, UT with a state wildlife/fisheries agency or BLM to get some experience. Then contract yourself out to private landowners if the opportunity presents itself.
ETA: BLM has regional field offices in some pretty sweet small towns out west, if you're looking to get away from larger populations.
