That sounds like a perfect trip then. I may not want to go home.

Salmon, but only if it were fly fishing.
Roger, what/where would you consider to be some must do Alaska fly fishing trips? I catch king salmon and nice sized steelhead here in New York but wouldn't be opposed to them Ina different location of it were an awesome trip. Alaska is on my list but I'd rather hear recommendations from an Alaskan outdoorsman than advertisements in a magazine.

Situk River near Yakutat is awesome. Huge steelhead there and the backdrop is the highest coastal mountain range in the world. Alaska Air flies into Yakutat from either Juneau or Anchorage.
quote:
The rivers in the Yakutat area support some of the best runs of wild salmon in southeast Alaska. Area waters support Dolly Varden char and resident rainbow trout year-round while hosting king, sockeye, pink, and silver salmon, and both fall and spring runs of wild steelhead trout.
If you get tired of fishing, Yakutat is also the prime surfing location in Ak.
That's 18,000 ft. Mt. St. Elias in the background.
Something different, the Arctic N.W. has sheefish which is an awesome fish to eat. It's a white fish, and they grow large. Usually found in the rivers running out of the Brooks Range.
