I know, I just like the sunshine.
Certainly not knocking Seattle. I would love to live there at some point in my life.

I have family outside of Portland and it's amazing. They work in the wine industry in the Willamette valley which is about an hour west of Portland. They love the Northwest, live in a small town west of Portland
I can't give you an objective view of Seattle I've only spent a few nights there.
In Portland you would be within 2 hours of the Oregon coast, Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood, Multnomah falls, The dalles on hood river, Eugene Oregon, and the Willamette Valley (tons of good vineyards). If you like the outdoors there's great climbing, skiing, hiking, golf all within a 2 hour radius.
Portland has excellent craft beers as has been mentioned and there's some really good restaurants as well, but traffic can be a major pain.
Whoever says Portland is a shite hole doesn't have a clue.
