Well, it depends. Is this copy sales? Ok, then fire them. Is this an organization that spends an upwards of a year to hire the right person--and then spends 100k plus just to train them? Yeah, you give them longer because you made a huge investment in said employee. Like someone else said, it's time for them to get on a "plan" to get back on plan. Maybe this is happening and the OP doesn't know it.
