we are on different sides of this argument. College football is bigger than Pro Football for many. If it was all about people only being interested in seeing the very best athletes, they would watch pro football.
College football needs student athletes, not the guys who are there only to hone skills. In fact, many simply can't stay out of trouble because academics mean nothing them, see Winston, Gurley and many others.
Many excellent athletes will still want to come to college before turning pro.

I'm sure many will, but most "excellent athletes" would not. NCAA limits the amount of time they can practice. That wouldn't be the case for the guys in the minor league.
